Everglades Restoration
Orvis continued to advocate for a restored Everglades ecosystem and the federal funding necessary for the largest environmental restoration project in history.
Members of the Orvis team joined partners from the Everglades Foundation, Captains for Clean Water, and others in Washington D.C., discussing with policymakers the importance of America’s Everglades to Florida’s $33 million outdoor economy, the large and small businesses that rely on clean water, and the generations of anglers and outdoor enthusiasts who visit this unique ecosystem every year.
The event included a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal, featuring Orvis President Simon Perkins’s call to action, urging Congress to fund Everglades restoration in 2024. Everglades ecosystem restoration projects received $1.1 billion in federal funding this year, the single largest investment to date.
Orvis continued its annual 5% for Nature Program and commitment to the Everglades, raising and donating $121,000 for our partners at the Everglades Foundation and Captains for Clean Water.

Bristol Bay Fly Fishing & Guide Academy
For 14 years, Orvis has supported the Bristol Bay Fly Fishing Guide Academy, providing local indigenous students with a week-long introduction to fly fishing and the skills needed to be a guide in the Bristol Bay lodge and tourism industry.
In 2023, Orvis was proud to release the film “School of Fish” in partnership with Trout Unlimited and filmmakers Oliver Sutro and Colin Arisman. The film—selected by numerous film festivals and the winner of Best Short Film of 2023 at the Banff Mountain Film Festival—is an intimate portrait of one family’s seasonal salmon rituals and their deeply rooted connection to the Bristol Bay ecosystem and the Guide Academy. It serves as a poignant reminder that people and places are inextricably linked and worth protecting for generations to come.
On Giving Tuesday, Orvis donated $40,000 in profits to the Guide Academy in honor of "School of Fish" and the Bristol Bay community. We continue to work with our industry and nonprofit partners towards a goal of permanent protection for the Bristol Bay ecosystem and the largest wild salmon fishery on the planet.

Morris Animal Foundation
In 2023, Orvis celebrated the impressive milestone of $2 million raised in support of Morris Animal Foundation in its fight to end canine cancer.
The $2 million raised has supported 33 universities and research institutions globally. This funding has resulted in new treatments for lymphoma, one of the most common cancers in dogs, increased knowledge on genetic risk factors and environmental exposures, novel surgical procedures, and new therapies for hemangiosarcoma, the leading cause of cancer deaths in Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study—one of the largest, most comprehensive canine health studies in the United States.
The partnership between Orvis and Morris Animal Foundation began 14 years ago with the Orvis Cover Dog Contest, which allows people to submit photos of their dogs for a chance to have them appear on the cover of the Orvis catalog. Each vote in the contest costs $1, and all proceeds go to Morris Animal Foundation’s canine cancer research programs.
